The Ultimate Journal Resource - Bk 1 Cover
Books 1 and 2 supplement the texts in the Level 2 Junior Journals 54–57. A carefully structured and differentiated unit of learning is included for each Journal text, covering both guided reading support and independent, engaging “respond and extend” activities. Addressing the needs of the modern classroom, each unit takes teachers and students beyond literal comprehension of the text with questions that are clearly categorised to show which higher-order skills they are designed to engage. Each unit also makes real-world links between its themes or main ideas and the key competencies of the New Zealand Curriculum, as well as providing English language learner support.

Essential Resources believes in learning. We help teachers teach and students learn.

Our resources are strongly grounded in what works in the classroom, giving teachers lesson plans, tools and strategies they need to make a difference. They support students’ learning through every stage of their schooling, ensuring students excel and can apply their learning to numerous meaningful contexts.

Engaging and of high interest, they are developed to provide students with the skills necessary to become analytical thinkers, problem solvers and idea generators, and to succeed in a multinational work environment.
