The ability to create written texts is a core learning skill. It is, of course, tied in with reading. Some of the resources on offer at the Essential Resources English/Writing link may also be found in the Reading collection.

Writing begins with the physical mechanics of producing letters and words on a page. The next step is linking these words into meaningful sentences. Sentences then connect to form paragraphs, which in turn combine to create longer texts. Understanding the purpose of any piece of writing is also a key skill. That leads to the ability to communicate effectively through written text. There are resources here to support and help students develop all of these writing skills.
