Behaviour

Behaviour is an integral component of classroom interaction. It can both detract and enhance learning for individuals and class groups. Understanding why people behave in a certain way is hugely helpful when it comes to creating a classroom that supports and encourages learning. This may mean helping students to learn behaviour that is appropriate to the classroom. It can also mean identifying the reason for certain behavioural patterns and then addressing the needs that arise from that issue.

Essential Resources offers a number of Practical Guides to both Classroom Management and Behaviour Management. These resources are relevant to both secondary and primary classrooms. There are also resources for Building Resiliency in Schools and Building Resiliency in Classrooms. To address student issues more directly, there are two publications in the Taking Responsibility Programme series and another that encourages Learning to Behave.
