About the Author

Vaughan Rapatahana (Te Atiawa, Ngati Te Whiti) has a PhD in existential literacy criticism from the University of Auckland and currently lives in Aotearoa New Zealand. He has had several collections of poetry published, most recently Schisms (Stonesthrow Poetry, Nevada, USA) in both ebook and print forms, and has been poetry editor of the Maori and Indigenous Journal. In addition to his work with Alan Chamberlain on several poetry teaching resources, Vaughan has published prolifically in other genres, including fiction (both novels and short stories), essays and critiques. He also specialises in writing on the works of Engish author Colin Wilson. Vaughan was a semi-finalist in the inaugural Proverse Prize in Literature in 2009 and was placed for the 2013 Erbacce Poetry Prize. His latest poetry collection, Atonement - published in Macau and Hong Kong in 2015 and then in Philippines in 2016, where it was nominated for a National Book Award. He also won the inaugural international Proverse Poetry prize in 2016.
