How to Teach Advanced Writing Skills - Book 2

A support programme for middle to senior classes

Teaching writing well can be challenging. Its demands on your planning time include deciding on a range of writing topics in diverse genres, and selecting relevant and useful learning goals. And then you need to teach these goals explicitly through clear explanations and demonstrations, supported writing practice, and meaningful feedback.

How to Teach Advanced Writing Skills – Book 2 provides an accessible, evidence-based guide to the complex task of teaching writing. Here you will find support to plan for 10 weeks of writing on high-interest topics (future worlds and the solar system) across three different genres – persuasive, narrative and report writing. Lessons cover text organisation, sentence structure, vocabulary choices and direct speech. Also included are resources needed to put your planning into action, such as fact files for knowledge-building about the writing topics, sentence-combining activities and annotated writing models.

How to Teach the Foundational Skills of Writing – Book 2 is an ideal resource to complement and support this programme. Click here to learn more and purchase.
